Kingfisher Photography Workshop
The workshops are based in the grounds of a private estate, in Shropshire near Market Drayton, close to the Staffordshire and Cheshire county border and only 20 minutes from the M6 Junction 14/15/16
We have exclusive use of a fantastic purpose built photography hide and the group size is just 3 people to allow lots of tuition time. There are toilet facilities on site and the workshop runs from 8am until 4pm.
Our hide is kitted out with hide plates with Gimbal Heads, double bean bags, phone chargers etc and these workshops are run in July as it is a good time of year to see the chicks, if the birds have bred well.
You will need a lens in the 300mm – 600mm range for perched shots and diving shots can be gained and for that you will need a lens in the 70-200mm or 70-300mm range(the shot is at 120mm) and either a wireless remote or a cable remote with a 8m lead and wellingtons.
I will be on hand all day to give advice on settings, composition and equipment etc and we meet at 8am at The Loggerheads Pub Car Park, 1 Eccleshall Road,Loggerheads near Market Drayton, Shropshire TF9 2QU and the session runs until around 4.00pm.
Unlike a number of other Kingfisher Hides, we also have an abundance of other wildlife to keep you occupied between the Kingfisher’s regular visits, we have Swans(with Cygnets) Coots,Moorhens,Tufted Ducks,Mallards,Little Grebe and even a resident bank vole.
Wellingtons are best to use as the walk to the hide can sometimes be a little muddy and they are needed for the diving set up.
The walk to the hide is lined with different flowers during the seasons, snowdrops and daffodils, followed by bluebells and Rhododendrons.
